Join us in the ancient desertscapes of Morocco for a vibrant adventure! Known for its colorful markets, exotic cuisine, and sweeping desert vistas, we can’t think of a better place to get inspired!
Explore ancient cities and charming villages, shop bustling souks, and experience Moroccan culture as we wind our way through Marrakech, the Atlas Mountains, and the Agafay Desert.
Along the way, we’ll lead you through creative prompts as we take time to gather inspiration from the beautiful places we visit. Our talented guest artists, Sally Ann Langley & Kate Rebecca Leach, have designed custom workshops just for us, from Woven Watercolor Textiles and Moroccan Lanterns to Florals with an exotic twist!
This journey is for anyone looking to explore their creative side and all of our activities and workshops are for beginners and seasoned artists alike! No Art experience necessary!
Indulge in our own private oasis set amongst the olive groves with stunning views of the surrounding Mountains. Featuring vibrant and artful interiors, a glimmering turquoise pool and gardens to roam this is the perfect place to rest and reset!
Our adventure takes us to many inspiring locales from the ancient desert city of Marrakech, where we’ll explore the historic medina and souk awash with colorful vendors to the picturesque mountain villages in the foothills of the Atlas mountains to the sweeping expanse of the Agafay desert!
Experience local artisans as we visit a vibrant women’s collective & pottery village in the mountains, savor the exotic cuisine of this region with a hands-on cooking class and indulge with a luxury spa experience at a traditional hammam are just a few of the many delights we have planned for this adventure!

Nestled among the olive groves with sweeping views of the Atlas Mountains lies our private escape! Designed by award-winning interior designer Maryam Montague, this stunning property has been featured in dozens of magazines from the New York Times to Elle Decor, House and Garden, and more!
Thoughtfully curated with vibrant and artful interiors that blend traditional Moroccan elements with eclectic finds from around the globe, this head-turning space is filled with flavor and inspiration! Featuring a hand-painted Arabian dining tent, designer pavilions, and luxury bungalows, we can’t wait to take it all in!

Meet Sally Ann Langley, an award-winning watercolorist and illustrator! From national licensing and magazine illustrations to book covers and even Napa Valley wine labels, her work is both whimsical and colorful!

Meet Kate Rebecca Leach ! Kate is known for her intricate watercolor designs and illustrations. Author and Fabric Designer her work is featured in collections across the globe and licensed throughout the US, Europe and the UK.
Inspired by nature, gemstones, and jewels, Kate’s work weaves in beautiful patternmaking with embellishments featuring iridescent washes of gold, copper, and silver.
From woven watercolor textiles to lush exotic florals, we are beyond excited for the workshops she has planned!

Meet the women of the Tizi Nougdal Collective. Weaving in patterns handed down over the generations, this women-led collective is a family affair featuring mothers, daughters, and sisters. Known for their bright, colorful designs and organic patterns, they create at the base of the Atlas Mountains while surrounded by nature.

Hi Everyone! Cassie here, founder of Wandering Women Retreats and art and travel lover!
I can’t tell you how excited I am to share Morocco with an awesome group of gals! With over a decade of experience in the travel industry and as a professional artist, it’s been a long-time dream to merge the two and offer unforgettable journeys that both nurture your creative side and immerse you in local culture.
I’ve cooked up a seriously dreamy itinerary that has a taste of it all! We’ll not only be visiting different towns, villages, and even the Agafay Desert, but with creative workshops, amazing day trips, and a culture steeped in history this retreat is chock full of inspiration!

Our Itinerary
Day 1: ARRIVAL, OPENING CELEBRATION & WELCOME DINNER
Arrival in Morocco. Settle in, get refreshed, and in the evening, meet us for a special Opening Celebration & Welcome Dinner.
DAY 2: Day Trip to Marrakech, Private Walking Tour of the Medina, Guided Artisan Shopping in the Souk, Sunset Cocktail & Henna Party
After a delicious homemade breakfast, we’ll head out for a private tour of the ancient desert city of Marrakech!
Explore the historic medina and its ornate palaces and hear the history behind this city steeped in tradition.We’ll explore the historic plaza, BenYousaf palace and more!
Next, we’ll stop in at the famed Marakech souk known for its artisan goods. Take in the sights and shop textiles, spices, handcrafted leather goods and more as we weave our way through the market enjoying the different vendors with free time to explore all this wonderful market has to offer!
After a day of exploring, join us at sunset for a fun cocktail hour as we sip on delicious handcrafted signature cocktails! Next we’ll enjoy a henna party where everyone will get to adorn themselves in traditional ornate designs.
Day 3: Traditional Moroccan Tea Experience, Village Visit & Private Cooking Class, Exotic Gardens Workshop
After another scrumptious breakfast, we’ll head off on a journey to a nearby village and home of Chef Tarik for a special half-day cooking class! Experience a traditional Moroccan tea ceremony, explore and forage in the garden, and learn how to cook many different Moroccan staples. Learn everything from making homemade breads in an outdoor oven to a spice workshop, tagines, couscous, and more!
Our adventure ends with a tour of the village followed by a family-style artisan lunch among the garden as we enjoy the fruits of our labor!
In the afternoon we’ll dive into our first creative workshop taking inspiration from the surrounding gardens. Learn fun techniques for creating a variety of florals as we create our very own exotic gardens. Join us in the evening for another chef-prepared three-course feast.
Day 4: Day Trip to the Atlas Mountains, Visit to the Ourika Valley, Artisan Weavers, Berber Lunch and Pottery Village Visit
After breakfast we’ll set on an adventure to the Atlas mountains! We’ll head deep into the mountains exploring the natural beauty this region is famous for. Our journey begins in the stunning Ourika Valley with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, lush valleys, and cascading waterfalls.
Our first stop will be to visit the women weavers of the Tizi Nougdal Collective. Weaving among nature, their work features bright, colorful designs and patterns. We’ll get the chance to tour their studio, hear the process behind their work, and test out the looms ourselves!
Next we’ll head out to a mountainside village to stop in at the home of a local Berber family. Savor recipes handed down over the generations for a one-of-a-kind meal cooked just for us by our amazing hosts. Our journey continues with a stop-in at an artisan pottery village famous for its handcrafted pottery wares.
After resting from exploring, join us in the evening for another chef-prepared dinner among the olive groves.
Day 5: Woven Watercolors/Moroccan Lanterns, The Medina at Night Food Tasting Tour & Rooftop Dinner
After another homemade breakfast, our day starts on a creative note with another fun workshop!
Week One features Sally Ann Langley’s Moroccan Lanterns! Learn to create beautiful watercolor lanterns with gilded accents using gold leafing pens and more!
Week Two features Kate Rebecca Leach’s signature Woven Watercolors as we take inspiration from the textiles of the region. Kate will go over how to create gorgeous watercolor textiles with layers of colors, iridescent inks, and more!
In the evening join us for a night of culinary delights as we savor the cuisine of Morocco with a private custom food and walking tour! Meet local makers and go behind the scenes for a one-of-a-kind taste of it all! We’ll weave our way through the market enjoying food from several vendors as we soak in the vibrant energy of the medina at night ending in a magical rooftop dinner with sweeping views of the city.
Day 6: Door to the Souk & Tiny Villages Workshop, Day Trip to Agafay Desert, Sunset Camel Ride, Caravan Oasis Dinner
After another delicious breakfast, we’ll dive into our last creative workshop!
Week One features Sally Ann Langley’s Door to the Souk workshop, exploring the ornate doors Morocco is known for. Sally will go over how to create a whimsical doorway scene that will make for a great memento of our time here!
Week Two features Kate Rebecca Leach’s Tiny Villages workshop, exploring the doors and villages Morocco is known for. Kate will go over how to create a mosaic of whimsical petite villages, doors, and archways for the perfect keepsake of our journey!
In the afternoon, we’ll head for a caravan oasis nestled in the Agafay Desert, lounge in luxury with sweeping views of the desert, and take a dip in the refreshing turquoise pool. At sunset we’ll traverse the desert on camelback followed by a special dinner under the stars.
Day 7: Hammam Spa Day with Custom Hammam and Massage, Closing Celebration and Dinner, Outdoor Cinema viewing of Casablanca
Enjoy another delicious breakfast. We’ll start our day on a relaxing note with a visit to a luxury spa for a day of pampering. Experience traditional hammam treatments that you can customize with your own oils and scents, followed by a luxurious massage .
In the evening, join us for a special closing celebration followed by a lavish dinner inside the estates hand-painted Arabian dining tent. Lounge among luxury textiles and linens for a one-of-a-kind meal. We’ll end the night with a special viewing of Casablanca under the stars in the estates outdoor cinema.
Day 8: Breakfast and Departure
We’ll share one last opening circle and breakfast together before departing for the airport. Remember to stay in touch with your new creative besties, and we hope you Wander with Us on our next adventure!

- Airfare and transportation from your hometown to Morocco.
- Travelers Insurance (required for this retreat).
- Any extra tours, meals, or excursions that you choose during your free time if you choose to go.
- Alcohol & Specialty Drinks outside of those provided in the retreat package.
- Transportation & lodging outside of the retreat dates, should you choose to arrive early or stay later in Morocco.
- Anything you buy in the markets or on various outings.
Faq’s
Book with Confidence – A note about Covid 19
We have a great team in place that is monitoring the global pandemic and travel advisories on a daily basis. In the event we need to cancel the retreat due to Covid 19, retreat participants will be offered the option of moving funds to a rescheduled departure date. We are also requiring all participants to get a travel insurance policy. We want you to feel fully comfortable and confident when booking that you are covered!
* Please note that we will NOT be refunding cancellations for any reason, including if you yourself contract COVID before the retreat and can not attend. Due to the planning, logistics & upfront costs of these events, we have a strict no-refund policy regardless of circumstance. We are requiring retreaters to get trip insurance for this very reason, trust us the peace of mind alone is worth it!
